Today was a big day. I had a doctor's appointment and we went and took some maternity photos. (this is not one of them - Shaun just took this at home) Plus, it was so nice outside that I barely wore a jacket all day. And thankfully, I was able to wear my flip flops without my feet getting too cold! :)My appointment went well. The doctor informed me that it appears I was not having Braxton Hicks contractions on Sunday but disorganized real contractions. After checking everything out I was informed that I'm 1cm dialated, 75% effaced and -1. It didn't mean a whole lot to me until she said, "You're farther along than most people are at 37 weeks so I'll be surprised if you make it to your due date. I don't think we're looking at anything in the next few days but I don't think you'll be waiting 20 more. Of course, I could be wrong."
After that, I started thinking about my numbers. Yes, 1cm isn't much. And I could be 3 or even 5 cm for a few weeks but the fact that I'm 75% effaced and she's already making her way into the birth canal (that's what the -1 is about), is maybe something. Maybe. I am not going to get excited. I feel like now that she's said that, Amelia will prove her wrong and show up a week late.
She's also sunny-side up with her knees and feet against my belly instead of her back. Darn kid isn't going to make this easy. LOL! The doctor gave me some positions to try and with any luck, she'll turn around. If not, I guess I'll get to experience some pretty interesting back labor in addition to all the other delivery pain. Hahahaha.
Then today we also had some maternity shots taken. It was fun and I'm excited to see the photos. Shaun was a good sport and even kissed my belly for a few shots! :)

Exciting appointment! She could be here before you know it. And aren't contractions the weirdest feeling ever?
I say an April Fools Day baby so she makes her entrance a bang and makes you suffer more with those cankles! But I sure hope not for your sake! Good luck!
March 19th. It's my brother's birthday so that's what I'm going with! And can I say how excited I am for you. I can't wait to see little Amelia's pics posted after she arrives!
March 21st sounds good to me. It was one of the most memorable days I can remember, when you made your arrival to this world, my first. You are a beautiful pregnant woman. You and Shaun will make the best parents! If not the 21st how about the 28th?

I actually have dates I don't want her to come which include the 21st, 28th and 1st. I don't mind sharing my birthday but for her, I want her to have her own birthday. The 28th is my cousin's birthday and while that's not as big of a deal, it's still one of the days I prefer not. And I don't like the idea of an April Fool's Day birthday - I don't know why but it sounds like a bad day to me.
The 19th and the 23rd both sound okay. At work I think they've marked off the 22nd and 25th. And I have 2 friends who both say the 17th. No one is venturing with a late guess so far. I guess the cynical part of me thinks that because the doctor is guessing early, I'll be late. I'm not sure if I said that in my post. So with that, I'm going to say Easter - April 4th, which was also my original due date.
I am going to go with the 27th! Can't wait!

OK...I'm getting in on this guessing game. I think Amelia will come on April 4th - her due date. She'll be like her mommy and want to stick with the schedule.
