Snuggles with Daddy

What little girl wouldn't want to start off a Monday with snuggles with her daddy?

Naughty, Naughty Girl!

Today Amelia kept telling me she was tired.  We came home from running errands and I thought she was going to fall asleep in her lunch.  When we went upstairs she begged for her jammies and then prompty crawled into bed with her books.  Almost 30 minutes later she was still awake.  After 45 minutes I saw her jumping on the bed (gotta love the video monitor) so I went in to scold her.  She told me she wanted to sleep in my bed and gave me the whole water works show.  I fell for it so we went into my room and I tucked her in and went back to packing in the other room. 

After abouth 15 minutes of silence I peeked in to make sure she was asleep.  Instead I found her standing on Shaun's side of the bed with a green Sharpie in had gleefully coloring on the cover of his brand new ChromeBook.  Then I spotted a wet spot on the carpet.  She was dry so she didn't have an accient.  I found a bottle of gel muscle cream stuff empty on Shaun's night stand.  Sure enough, that's what it was.  I asked her why she colored on the computer and she said "Because I did."  UGH, that answer drives me CRAZY.  So I asked her why she squeezed out the gel and she said "Because it was so fun to squeeze it" with the biggest grin on her face - she obviously had fun doing it.  I had to bite my lip not to laugh.  I sent her to her room and made her sit there until Shaun came home.  Luckily he didn't kill her and with some elbow grease and a Clorox wipe you really can't see it anymore.

Purple Hair!

Amelia BEGGED me to "paint" her hair purple.  So, I told her if she was really good I would "paint" her hair purple for our trip to Jamaica.  Well, today was the day.  I set her up in front of a movie and went to town...

She was SO excited to be doing this so I'm not sure why she stuck her tongue out.   Oh well, it was a funny picture.  Here's how it came out....

...since it seemed a little light, I decided to try it again.  This time I left it on longer and while it processed I fulfilled another promise - a manicure and pedicure!  Here's the little diva letting her nails dry while her hair processes...

This time it came out a little darker.  This was taken with no natural lighting so I'm anxious to see how it looks in the sunlight tomorrow.

ALMOST feeling better

After being home for 3 days Amelia was ready to go back to school this morning!  (After cheering for Andy Murray's victory over Roger Federer in the men's Australian Open semi final match.)

Unfortunately I got a call around 3pm that she had a fever again.  UGH!  I guess it's a good thing it's the weekend AND that she's sick BEFORE we go to Jamaica on Wednesday.  Let's just hope she kicks whatever is by then!

WARNING: Grossness

Amelia was so proud of herself for producing so much snot in one sneeze. I swear, between things like this and her farting, sometimes I'm surprised she's not a boy!

Home Sick with Daddy

Amelia was home sick with Daddy today. Her 102* fever broke around 2am but since she was sent home from school he can't go back until tomorrow. I hated leaving her, but with going on vacation next week I really couldn't stay home again today. I made sure to leave detailed information about her meds but he still managed to screw it up. Oh well, he didn't die so I guess he's off the hook.

Sick Girl

Poor Meems got sent home from school with a fever today. She was such a snuggle bug, but it breaks my heart to see her feeling yucky. Here is a picture of my sweet girl all bundled up at bedtime because she was freezing.

Finley

Amelia has a little boy in her class at daycare that she loves.  His name is Finley and he is really one of the sweetest kids.  They are SO cute together and every morning Amelia wakes up and asks if it's a school day. If I say "yes," immediately her next question is "Is it a Finley day?"  (Finley only comes on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays)  She LOVES Finley Days!

Sprinkles

Even though Shaun's birthday was yesterday we didn't make a cake until today.  And a darn good cake too - brownies with chocolate frosting.  Amelia wanted to put sprinkles on the cake so I gave her the bottles of sprinkles.  She did alright with the blue and pink.  I should have known better than to turn my back when I unscrewed the green ones.  I literally turned around to get a plate out of the cupboard and turned back around to find she had dumped about an 1/8th of a cup of green sprinkles out.  Oops!  The cake looked like it had grass after I shook them all over AND we still dumped a significant amount in the trash.  LOL!  I guess my girl likes sprinkles!

All By Herself

This morning I made Amelia take off her pajamas and get herself dressed without me helping her.  She picked out the outfit all by herself too so although it took 15 minutes, she did it all all by herself today.

Favorite Things

This picture captures two of Amelia's favorite pastimes (outside of reading - that seems to be her favorite!) - dressing up and playing games.  She LOVES to dress up in her princess dresses and dance around.  When she's not pretending to be a princess she loves playing her new games - Hi Ho Cherry-O, Chutes and Ladders, CandyLand, a really cute one called The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel, and the one she really kicks my butt on - Memory!

Princess Shirt

Uncle Ryan gave Amelia this shirt for Christmas.  It's hard to see, but it has a picture of 10 of Disney's princesses.  She LOVES the shirt and thought she was pretty styling to be wearing her fancy princess shirt and her sparkly pink winter hat today.

Sunset Over Lake Champlain

I couldn't resist sharing this photo.  I took this picture of the sunset through the windows at my office tonight. It was too pretty not to capture and this picture really doesn't do it justice.

FaceTime

Shaun finally got an iPhone so now we can FaceTime with him when he is gone.  This morning he flew to NYC and will be gone until tomorrow night.  Amelia was very excited to get to see him on the phone after she woke-up.

Sad Cinderella

Amelia was overtired tonight so when we said it was time for bed, she got SO upset.  She was a puddle of tears and was fighting bedtime tooth and nail.  Poor girl gave me a super hard time going to bed but she was out cold in less than 10 minutes.

Castle

It's a blurry picture but it's hard to get a very excited munchkin to stay still for even a moment.  Here Amelia is playing with her new castle from Aunt Joe and Uncle Ed.  It was a Christmas present and we FINALLY opened it tonight.  Amelia was practically shaking with excitement as I put it together.

We put it in her room and she has outfitted it with her lovies (stuffed animals and baby dolls) and books.

Tired Girl

Amelia was TIRED and GRUMPY today.  She did not want her picture taken and was less than thrilled that despite her protests I was persistent in getting a picture of her.  Poor girl played hard at school and didn't want to admit how exhausted she was because what 2-year-old WANTS to go to bed?!?!  :)

Tea Time!

This morning Amelia made me tea. I love to watch her in her kitchen and it's hilarious to listen to her talk through what she's doing.  She is SO serious and if I laugh at her, she gets so mad, but she's so funny that it's hard NOT to laugh.

Balance Beam!

Amelia LOVES the balance beam at gymnastics.  Every week we have to get to class early so she can walk across it as many times as possible.  She won't take more than a few steps without holding my hand but she'll walk one foot in front of the other and sideways on it with no problems.  Today I made her stand by herself so I could take a picture.  Plus, she looked so stinking cute in her outfit this morning!

My Own Little Cinderella

Tonight when we got home Amelia asked if she could put on her Cinderella outfit. She then informed me the coffee table was dirty and she needed a rag to clean it. She then started wiping whatever else he could find to "clean." I think I'm going to enjoy this game. :)

Child Assessment

Today we got back the results of a child assessment done at school by Amelia's teacher. It was awesome. I know Amelia is a bright kid, but I was still surprised to see her rated mostly at a 4-year-old pre-K level for so many areas. And one or two at a kindergarten level. So crazy and so incredibly proud!!

Pretend Play

Amelia got a dollhouse from Santa for Christmas. She doesn't play with it a ton but when she does, it's a treat o listen to her. She's so funny with her voices and the things she says. Listening to her I know that one day, a long time from now, she'll make a good mommy.

Purple Dye!

Today we got a box in the mail from one of my high school friends, Amanda.  She and I had gone back and forth regarding Amelia's request for me to paint her hair purple.  Seriously. 
Here's the conversation we had last week:
"Mommy, when Mr. Brett cuts my hair can he make it purple?"
Me: "Make what purple?"
Amelia: "My hair."
Me: "How would he make it purple?"
Amelia: "He can paint it like Ms. Shawn painted your hair."
Me: (trying not to laugh while completely amazed she remembers me getting my hair highlighted on Nov. 9th!) "Umm, we can talk about it. Now go to sleep!"

I had posted this on Facebook and got lots of feedback.  Amanda said she had streaked her girls' hair previously and it was both easy and safe.  She offered to send me the stuff she used.  

I've told Amelia if she's really good between now and when we leave, I'll give her some purple hair for our trip to Jamaica.

Little Mommy

Singing her babies a lullaby. She told me her babies had to sleep on the pillow close to her so she could shush them if they cry. LOL! I don't know how she can sleep with all those dolls and stuffed animals in her bed.

Sledding!

Today we went sledding with some friends and had SO much fun!  Amelia wasn't sure about it at first but by the end she was going down the hill on the tube all by herself!  I can't wait to go again next weekend!!

Tiny Dancer

Amelia loves her dance class. Santa brought her a beautiful new outfit to wear and she looks so pretty in it.

Little Red Riding Hood

Amelia loves dressing up ... at home and at school! Today I picked her up at school to find her dressed like Little Red Riding Hood.

It took all of us some motivation to get out of bed this morning!

Start of 2013 Stats

Miss Meems is 37.5" tall and weighing in at 37lbs!

It will be interesting to see where she's at on December 31st.

Amelia started our year off with sleeping in until 9am! Makes us sound lazy but I'm arguing we started the year off rested, refreshed and ready to go!
